Description:

  • Provide technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized applications and operational environment, high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation and implementation advice on moderately complex problems that require an appropriate level of knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation.
  • Apply principles, methods and knowledge of the functional area of capability to specific task order requirements, advanced mathematical principles and methods to exceptionally difficult and narrowly defined technical problems in engineering and other scientific applications to arrive at automated solutions.
  • Assist other senior consultants with analysis and evaluation and with the preparation of recommendations for system improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts in the following specialties: information systems architecture, networking; telecommunications, automation; communications protocols, risk management/electronic analysis, software; lifecycle management, software development methodologies, and modeling and simulation.

Essential Functions & Duties:

  • Deployment & Maintenance: Responsible for deploying and maintaining resources in Azure, ensuring optimal function and security.
  • DNS Configuration & Management: Configure and manage Domain Name System (DNS) settings to support internet presence and internal services.
  • Web Service Configuration: Knowledge of configuring web services in Apache/NGINX to ensure efficient and secure website operations.
  • SSL Certificate Management: Generate and update SSL certificates to maintain connection security and integrity.
  • Docker Image Deployment: Build and deploy Docker images as part of our containerization strategy.
  • Linux Systems Administration: Perform regular system checks, maintenance, and updates on Linux servers to ensure stability.
  • Collaborative Development: Work collaboratively using Git to manage versions and contribute to project code bases.
  • Network Management: Understanding of network routing and topology to support internal and client-facing network infrastructure.
  • SQL Administration: Basic SQL database administration tasks including importing/exporting data, and managing users and databases.
  • Infrastructure Monitoring: Monitor infrastructure to proactively identify and resolve issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Backup Management: Configure and maintain data backup solutions to prevent data loss and ensure disaster recovery.
  • Log Analysis: Analyze resource and application logs to enhance system performance and troubleshoot errors.

Skills, Qualifications and Certifications of Best Candidates:

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong foundational skills in managing cloud services, particularly Azure, and familiarity with RedHat, Docker, Git, OpenSSL, Apache, and NGINX.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data from various sources to inform decision-making and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for documenting processes, collaborating with team members, and providing support.
  • Proactivity: Proactive in monitoring and optimizing systems to prevent issues before they arise.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working in collaborative environments, using tools like Git and partaking in team projects and meetings.
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, specifically ARM/Bicep Templates.
  • Knowledge of configuration management tools like Salt.
  • Proficiency in version control and CI/CD tools, such as BitBucket and Bamboo.
  • Database management experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with project and documentation management tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Web development skills in PHP.

Preferred Certifications & Technical Stack:

  • Azure Certifications: Fundamental or Associate level (e.g., Azure Fundamentals, Azure Administrator Associate).
  • RedHat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA): Demonstrates proficiency in Red Hat server systems administration.

Citizenship or Work Authorization Required:

  • US citizen
  • Must be able to obtain a public trust clearance.

Preferred Education & Experience: Commensurate experience in IT and in new and related older technology that directly relates to the required area of expertise.

Compensation for roles at Synergy varies depending on a wide variety of factors including but not limited to the requirements of the role; education and certifications; knowledge, training, skills and abilities; level of experience; geographic location; and alignment with market data, law, and other business and organizational needs. As required by local law, the posted pay range represents the lowest to the highest pay that Synergy believes in good faith it might pay for this particular job, depending on the circumstances. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is: $86,000-$120,000

Essential Job Function Physical Requirements: The physical requirements of this position are critical in evaluating the qualifications and abilities of an applicant or employee. The physical efforts needed to perform the essential duties of this job 90% of the time are repetitive motions, grasping, holding, and finger dexterity of the hands, reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, color distinction, and full visual abilities, hearing, talking, sitting, and use of IT equipment, phones, and office machines.

To a reduced degree, <30% of the time, candidates may have to stand, walk, lift 0-30 pounds, push or pull objects, climb stairs, bend, squat, reach, drive a car, or work overtime.
