Job Description

Inova Alexandria Hospital is hiring a Full-Time Cardiovascular Invasive RN to join their Cath Lab! Minimum of 1+ year clinical experience working in Cardiac Cath Lab, EP or IR. ICU, ED and Progressive Cardiac Care also considered. This position does have an on-call requirement. We are offering a competitive sign-on bonus as well as a relocation assistance for eligible nurses!

4x10 hour shifts to cover 7am-5pm

About the Department and the Position: The Invasive Cardiovascular Labs are comprised of 6 labs (Cardiac Cath Labs, Interventional Radiology Labs, and Electrophysiology Labs) and will such cases as Coronary, Heart, Caths and Peripherals.

As a Cardiovascular Invasive Registered Nurse, you will provide safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and caring way while incorporating differences into the provision of care. To help achieve our mission, you will ensure improvement in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life long learning. Providing direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a resource, preceptor and mentor is required. Incorporating data and information to continuously improve care and practice while enhancing outcomes is expected. Your ability to assist the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cath lab with the preparation of the sterile field, selection and preparation of instruments and supplies, manipulation of cardiac catheters, guidewires etc. and injection of contrast media and other medication as directed by the physician is of vital importance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs psychosocial/physiologic assessments that integrate changing data as documented in procedure notes. Tailors and prioritizes caring practice to individual needs, including cultural/ethical/spiritual needs.
  • Participates in the planning of routine transitional healthcare needs (e.g., treatment options).
  • Attends at least 50 percent of staff meetings. Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members while displaying leadership behaviors.
  • Supports departmental cost saving strategies and provides care in an efficient and cost conscious manner.
  • Consistently enters patient charge information accurately and maintains statistical data for the outcome report. Volunteers for additional projects in Cath/EP labs (ex: skills check and help with staff development).
  • Appropriately delegates patient care activities to other health care team members and participates on making and revising staff assignments.
  • Participates on unit teams, work groups and committees. Takes initiative to participate in efficient and timely room turnover.
  • Calibrates, operates and troubleshoots a wide variety of equipment and instruments. Selects appropriate instruments and supplies based on patient presentation during procedure. Monitors the EKG, hemodynamic pressure and other physiologic data during the procedure.

Requirements

Minimum of 1+ year acute care nursing experience required. **Strongly prefer 3 plus years nursing experience and/or prior experience working in Cardiac Cath Lab, EP, IR or ICU, ED.

Education:

BSN from an accredited school of nursing.

  • If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 24 months of start date.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required from American Heart Association (AHA)

RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN
