MUST: The Referral Coordinator must have the following experience: 2+ years of experience with processing referrals 3+years of medical office experience Experience obtaining pre-authorizations and verifying insurance Scheduling appointments Documenting and updating patient information in EMR Collecting co-pays
DUTIES: The duties of the Referral Coordinator include but are not limited to the following: Process and track referrals Verify insurance prior to completing referrals.
Complete urgent referrals within 24 hours Notify patients of referral information Schedule referral appointments with the referred specialist Ensure that referrals have a consult note/report documented within one month of the visit
Obtains prior authorizations Assist with in-services audits as instructed by supervisor. Document what steps are outstanding in the referral process before the order can be marked complete in EMR.
Ensure transition of care is completed for providers
