ERG is seeking a full-time onsite experienced chemical or mechanical engineer to support a manufacturing area at a federal facility site in Indian Head, Maryland. The qualified individual must be motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a challenging environment.
This position will be full-time at the federal site in Indian Head, MD, and will include interaction and support from ERG personnel at the federal site, as well as from ERG's Chantilly and Arlington offices. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC, 25 miles from Alexandria, VA, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, VA. Flexible work schedules may be considered.
Job Description:
  • Perform all aspects of engineering duties in support of material and end-item production.
  • Perform engineering calculations that support process design, equipment configuration, and process condition establishment decisions for mass and energy balances, heat transfer calculations, heat transfer calculations, and pump sizing.
  • Analyze existing or planned equipment and processes for the purposes of optimization, changes, and maintenance.
  • Perform market research and work with client procurement processes and organization to obtain necessary equipment for conducting operations.
  • Prepare, review, and edit technical documentation such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), equipment and facility drawings, and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Perform engineering, safety, and quality control analyses.
  • Collaborate/communicate effectively with stakeholders internal to, and external to, the engineering team (e.g., quality testing and manufacturing departments).
Qualifications and Skills:
  • BS or MS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree (minimum GPA of 3.0)
  • 0-5 years of experience relevant to manufacturing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation to engage with personnel and seek out paths toward solutions when original problem statements may seem vague
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), meticulous attention to detail, highly motivated, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with limited oversight
  • Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance; Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations
Ideal Candidates will have:
  • Technical writing experience
  • Competence in using spreadsheet and statistical software to compile, analyze, and present data
  • Expertise in reviewing engineering drawings and calculations
  • Federal contract or facilities experience
  • Hold an active secret-level security clearance
