Home to a diverse, growing community, Prince William County Schools is the largest employer in the county, which has a growing technology and science sector. Students and staff benefit from innovative instructional and professional learning programs, specialty programs (K-12) and career paths, resulting in continuous growth each year. As the second largest School Division in the Commonwealth of Virginia, our focus is on student success achieved in part through collaboration, quality professional learning, the use of instructional technology, and the development of literacy and wellness. This provides the dynamic environment for over 89,000 students in 61 elementary schools, two traditional elementary schools, 17 middle schools, 12 high schools, three special education, two alternative schools and two Governor’s Schools. All PWCS high schools are ranked in the top ten percent of public and private high schools nationwide (as determined by the Washington Post) and boast an on-time graduation rate of 91%, ranking 7th of the 50 largest school systems in the United States.

School Year 2017-18 saw the addition of a new elementary school, as well as continued efforts to renew, expand, and replace some of our existing schools. Over the next ten years, Prince William County Schools expects to reach enrollment of 105,000 students, resulting in the anticipated hiring of 8000 teachers, and construction of 18 new schools!
